Job Title:  Senior Executive – Payroll

Role Summary

We are looking for a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Executive – Payroll to manage end-to-end payroll operations for approximately 500 employees. The ideal candidate should have strong knowledge of Indian payroll processes, statutory compliances, payroll taxation, employee benefits, and payroll systems, along with excellent analytical and Excel skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage end-to-end monthly payroll processing for employees across multiple departments and functions. 
  • Validate attendance, leave, LOP, overtime, reimbursements, bonuses, performance pay, incentives, arrears, and deductions.
  • Ensure accurate salary processing within defined timelines.
  • Handle statutory compliances including PF, ESIC, Professional Tax, TDS, Gratuity, Labour Welfare Fund, and other applicable labour laws.
  • Prepare and verify payroll inputs, salary registers, bank transfer statements, and payroll reconciliation reports.
  • Ensure accurate computation of income tax, tax declarations, Form 16 inputs, and TDS deductions.
  • Process employee reimbursements, bonuses, performance-linked pay, leave encashment, and full & final settlements.
  • Maintain payroll records and employee master data with accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Coordinate with HR, Finance, auditors, statutory consultants, and employees for payroll-related matters.
  • Support internal and statutory audits by maintaining proper documentation and audit trails.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable labour laws, company policies, and statutory timelines.
  • Resolve employee payroll queries in a timely and professional manner.

Required Skills and Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of Indian payroll processing.
  • Good understanding of PF, ESIC, Professional Tax, TDS, Gratuity, labour laws, and statutory compliances.
  • Hands-on experience in processing payroll for a medium to large employee base.
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Excel, including VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, formulas, data validation, and payroll reconciliations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Good understanding of payroll controls, approvals, and compliance documentation.
  • Ability to handle confidential salary and employee data responsibly.
  • Good communication and coordination skills.
  • Ability to manage timelines and work under payroll deadlines.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with payroll software such as Keka, or similar HRMS/payroll systems.
  • Knowledge of payroll accounting and salary cost reconciliation.
  • Exposure to full & final settlement processing.
  • Experience in handling payroll audits and statutory inspections.
  • Understanding of compensation structures, CTC breakup, variable pay, and tax optimization components.

Qualification

  • Graduate or postgraduate degree in Commerce, Finance, HR, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Additional certification in payroll management, labour laws, or statutory compliance will be an added advantage.
