About the Role:

The Desktop Support Engineer is responsible for ensuring seamless IT operations by providing technical support, maintaining hardware and software systems, and troubleshooting issues across the organization. This role requires hands-on expertise in system configurations, network troubleshooting, and IT infrastructure management to support business continuity and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as the first point of contact for IT-related issues, responding promptly to user requests.
  • Install, configure, and troubleshoot Windows OS (7, 8, 10, 11), along with essential software applications.
  • Manage and maintain desktops, laptops, printers, servers, and other IT peripherals (monitors, keyboards, hard drives, etc.).
  • Perform hardware diagnostics and repairs, ensuring minimal downtime.
  • Assist in onboarding new employees, including system setup and access provisioning.
  • Ensure timely system upgrades, patch management, and security updates.
  • Monitor IT assets, maintain inventory records, and track software licenses.
  • Support network configurations, Wi-Fi setup, and troubleshooting (Fortigate, Aruba, Ruckus).
  • Perform basic server administration and backup management to prevent data loss.
  • Install and configure print servers and CCTV cameras as required.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align IT support with business objectives.

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience in IT support, desktop troubleshooting, and hardware maintenance.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Proficiency in Windows OS installation, troubleshooting, and patch management.
  • Strong knowledge of desktop & laptop hardware repairs and upgrades.
  • Basic understanding of networking concepts, LAN/WAN troubleshooting, and firewall configurations.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) is a plus.
  • Ability to conduct routine IT audits and verify backup integrity.
  • Hands-on experience in setting up and managing Wi-Fi networks, print servers, and security systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a proactive approach.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to support users effectively.
  • Certifications like CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent is highly desirable.
